Guess who rolled into Lagos yesterday? None other than President Bola Ahmed Tinubu himself! He's in town for some seriously big deals, especially the golden jubilee of ECOWAS.
Now, as the head of ECOWAS, President Tinubu is set to host a grand gathering today. We're talking about heads of state and government from member countries converging at the Nigerian Institute of International Affairs (NIIA) and Eko Hotels and Suites. The ECOWAS 50th birthday bash actually kicked off in Ghana earlier this month, but Lagos is where the final, epic celebration is going down.
A super cool part of the Lagos events will be a re-enactment of the original 1975 ECOWAS declaration at the NIIA. And get this: General Yakubu Gowon, the only living signatory to the founding treaty of ECOWAS, will be there! He's even slated to deliver a commemorative address at Eko Hotels.
But it's not all regional diplomacy for the President. He's also here to show off some of the awesome infrastructure projects his administration has been cooking up. He's expected to officially open Section I of the Lagos-Calabar Coastal Highway, the Lekki Deep Sea Port Tax Credit Concrete Road, and the 7th Axial Road. Plus, he'll be breaking ground on Section II of the Lagos-Calabar Coastal Highway, which is a huge deal for connecting our coastal states and boosting the economy.
And if that wasn't enough, President Tinubu will also inaugurate road projects in the North, including sections of the Kano-Kanwar-Danja-Hadejiya Road and the Yakasai-Zalli Road. He'll even flag off the Kano Northern Bypass and several sections of the Zaria-Hunkuyi-Dabai and Malumfashi-Dayi-Yashe-Gidan Mutum Daya projects.
Before he jets back to Abuja, the President will be observing Eid-el-Kabir prayers at the State House Mosque in Dodan Barracks, Ikoyi. It's going to be a packed few days for the President!
