"Maitama in Darkness?” Fayose Drags Abuja, Hails Morocco in Viral Video

Social critic Isaac Fayose, the younger brother of former Ekiti State governor Ayodele Fayose, has set social media buzzing after a video of him surfaced online. The clip, shared on X by @NigerianStories, captured Fayose calling out parts of the Federal Capital Territory, especially the popular Maitama area, over the lack of electricity.

In the video, Fayose didn’t hold back as he complained that there was no light in Maitama, a place many consider as one of the most expensive neighborhoods in Abuja. He went further to compare the FCT with Morocco, throwing in a bold claim that Lagos is richer than Morocco and yet it enjoys steady electricity “everywhere,” unlike Nigeria.

As expected, his comments quickly sparked reactions online. Many Nigerians questioned how an area like Maitama could be in darkness.

So, what is your take—was Isaac Fayose speaking facts, or was he just stirring the pot for attention? Drop your thoughts 👇🏾💬
