Wizkid gets called a lot of things online, but if you ask Basket Mouth, "proud" isn’t one of them.

In a heartfelt throwback, the comedian shared a story from 2014 that paints a very different picture of the superstar. At the time, Basket Mouth was organizing a show in Lagos and reached out to Wizkid, hoping to get him on the lineup. He was ready to pay whatever it took.

But Wizkid told him not to worry about money—he wanted to perform as a surprise guest and insisted on doing it for free.

Unfortunately, just three days before the event, Wizkid called to say he couldn’t make it due to a serious family emergency. Naturally, Basket Mouth was disappointed.

But here’s the twist.

Thirty-five minutes later, Wizkid called again. He told Basket Mouth to reach out to any Nigerian artist he wanted for the show and send him the total cost.

Basket Mouth quickly contacted Lil Kesh, Kcee, Yemi Alade, and Phyno. The combined bill? A whopping ₦40 million. Wizkid paid it all—no hesitation.

“When people try to say Wizkid is proud, I just laugh,” Basket Mouth said. “He’s not the guy social media tries to make him out to be.”
