Tragic Fire Claims Lives of Three Family Members in Ibadan
A fire in the Ori-Eru, Idikan area of Ibadan, Oyo State, has killed a husband, his wife, and their grandson. The fire, which happened early on Friday, destroyed part of a two-story building.
Yemi Akinyinka, the General Manager of Oyo State Fire Services, said they got a call about the fire at 3:46 a.m. and quickly sent fire fighters to the scene.
When they arrived, they found the top floor of the building fully on fire. They worked fast to put it out and managed to save the ground floor and nearby buildings.
Sadly, three people— the husband, wife, and grandson—died in the fire. However, five other people were rescued safely.
Akinyinka said that the fire started because the family tried to stay warm by using an open flame while they were asleep. He also mentioned that police and Amotekun officials were at the scene to keep order.
