President Tinubu Advocates for Energy Management Amid Rising Costs

President Tinubu spoke on Monday about how people can handle rising electricity bills. He said it's not bad to learn how to manage these costs. Simple actions like turning off lights and being more mindful of energy use can help control electricity bills.

He also said that he doesn’t believe in controlling prices and that the government will work hard to ensure enough supply in the market.

Since Tinubu became president in May 2023, energy costs have gone up. This happened after the government removed the petrol subsidy and raised electricity prices.

Fuel prices have increased sharply, from less than ₦200 per liter to over ₦1,100 in some areas. The value of the naira has also dropped, going from about ₦700 to ₦1,600 to the dollar.
