A 23-year-old student from Nasarawa State University, Jatau Rilokwah, was found dead on April 27, 2025, in the senior staff quarters of the university.

The incident was shared by Lake Chad region security analyst, Zagazola Makama, on his X (formerly Twitter) account. He said that a university security officer, Emmanuel Gyawo, discovered the student’s body.

According to Makama, Gyawo had been asked by Professor Shedrack Jatau—who was reportedly out of town at the time—to check on his son. Upon arrival at the residence, Gyawo found Rilokwah hanging from the ceiling.

Police officers from the Angwan Lambu division quickly responded to the scene. The body showed no signs of physical struggle, and no suicide note was found. Rilokwah was taken to the Federal Medical Centre in Keffi, where doctors confirmed he was dead.

His remains have been placed in the hospital morgue, and the police have begun an investigation to find out what led to his death.
