President Tinubu Mourns With Chimamanda Adichie Over Tragic Loss of Her 21-Month-Old Son




President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has expressed his heartfelt condolences to celebrated Nigerian writer, Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie, and her husband, Dr. Ivara Esege, following the heartbreaking loss of their son, Nkanu Nnamdi.

The couple’s baby boy, who was just 21 months old, sadly passed away on Wednesday, January 7, 2025, after a short illness. The news has drawn sympathy from many, including the President, who acknowledged how painful and overwhelming such a loss can be.

In a condolence message released on Thursday, January 8, through his Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, President Tinubu described the death of a child as one of the most painful experiences any parent can go through. He shared his deep sorrow with the family and spoke from personal understanding, noting that no form of grief compares to losing a child.

The President said he stands in solidarity with Chimamanda, her husband, and their entire family during this extremely difficult period. He added that he shares in their mourning and feels their pain.

President Tinubu also praised Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie as a global literary icon whose work has touched lives and brought inspiration and joy to people around the world. He prayed that she and her family would find comfort, strength, and peace through faith during this trying time, assuring them that his thoughts and prayers are with them.
