Peter P-Square vs The Internet: "Let My Kids Speak French"

 

If you thought the P-Square drama was only between brothers, think again.

Peter Okoye AKA Mr P, sparked a culture war this week after defending his decision to let his children speak French at home instead of Igbo. "Culture is not only language. My kids can be Nigerian and still speak French," he said.

Nigerians did NOT agree. 

"Teach them Igbo first before French." 

"Our languages are dying and celebrities are making it worse."

Others defended him, saying elite families raise multilingual kids all the time. The debate turned into a bigger conversation about identity, diaspora parenting, and what "being Nigerian" really means in 2026.

Peter hasn’t responded again, but the quote is still circulating.
