AfCFTA Signs $3.1 Billion Deal with Nigerian Firm to Digitize Customs

The African Continental Free Trade Area Secretariat has signed a 20-year, $3.1 billion concession with Nigerian company Bergmans Security Consultants and Supplies Ltd.

The deal will roll out a continent-wide digital customs system across 50 AU member states to boost intra-African trade and reduce revenue leakages.

Analysts say if implemented well, it could cut clearance times and make it easier for Nigerian exporters to trade across Africa.
