Abia State Governor Alex Otti has stood firmly by his earlier statement that former Anambra State Governor Peter Obi left behind $155 million in three banks at the end of his tenure.
In an exclusive interview with Arise News, Otti reiterated the figure and detailed the background. He recalled writing a piece more than six years ago titled “Prudence Over Profligacy,” in which he highlighted the savings Obi left in Anambra as evidence that prudent governance remains possible.
Otti, who was chief executive of a bank at the time, said he personally advised Obi to keep the funds in dollars rather than naira. “I stand by my statement,” he said, adding that allegations from the current Anambra State administration under Governor Charles Soludo do not invalidate either his earlier writing or the credit Obi left behind.
He challenged the Anambra State Government: if the claim is incorrect, it should publish the debts.
The interview, aired by Arise News, has drawn significant attention amid ongoing debates over Anambra’s fiscal record and the legacy of Obi’s administration.
