ABUJA — The Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Police Command has arrested a married woman and two hotel staff members in connection with the death of a man whose body was discovered under a bridge along the Kubwa Expressway in Abuja.
According to FCT Commissioner of Police Ahmed Muhammed Sanusi, the man’s lifeless body was found on August 26, 2026, under the Katampe bridge area of the Kubwa Expressway. His family had earlier reported him missing. Initial speculation pointed to possible “one chance” robbery or kidnapping, but investigations later established a different sequence of events.
Police said the deceased and Mrs Rukayat Muhammed, a resident of Garki Area 2, Abuja, had lodged together at the Good Samaritan Guest House on Second Avenue, Gwarimpa. Muhammed, who is married, was allegedly in a romantic relationship with the man and had saved his contact on her phone under the name “Safiyat.”
While they were in the hotel room, Muhammed discovered that the man was no longer breathing. Rather than reporting the incident to the police or hotel management, she took his mobile phone and left the premises. The phone was later switched off.
Several hours later, after hotel staff were unable to contact the occupants of the room, they gained access and found the man’s body. Instead of notifying the authorities, two members of the hotel management — identified as Ibrahim Omeiza and Kefat Bitrus — allegedly removed the body, transported it to the Kubwa Expressway near Katampe, and dumped it by the roadside under the bridge in an apparent attempt to distance the hotel from the incident.
Investigators traced the deceased’s last known communications and the missing phone to Muhammed, leading to her arrest. The two hotel workers were also arrested. The deceased’s identity has not been publicly disclosed by police.
Sanusi disclosed the details during a press briefing in Abuja on Saturday, September 26, 2026, while parading the suspects. The case remains under investigation.
